In other get to rid of criminal elements, Hon Godwin Chuku the Special Assistant to the Governor of Ebonyi State on Security in charge of Ohaozara Local Government Area Friday asked all the sellers and smokers of marijuana, otherwise called Igboh to vacate the council or be greeted by the full weight of the law.
He gave the order in Okposi, Ohaozara during his weekly security sensitisation tour in the area.
Chuku said the directive became necessary because activities that breach public peace are hatched in the smoker’s den, so banning their activities becomes a sure bet for curtailing criminal activities in the area.
The Governor’s security aide insisted that rooting out criminals responsible for the disruption of public peace and placing the state in the same ladder with other peaceful States for greater economic prosperity is one of the utmost priorities of the government of Chief Francis Nwifuru.
“We have observed with dismay that some smokers of marijuana perpetrate violence.
“Most worrisome is our findings that the Igboh bunk are where criminal decisions are hatched.
“We can not continue to watch people our youths go to these places, initiate and execute crimes. Never.
“The Governor is determined to bring lasting security to our state and marijuana smokers and sellers should vacate Ohaozara with immediate effect.
“After this sensitisation, the next is total clamped down. Our intelligence sources told us some of them are in the bush.
” We are not interested. Where they are, we will get them.
“Our Governor, His Excellency is irrevocably committed to restoring lasting security and as such will support him because it is for our benefit.
“Ebonyi must be the most peaceful state for business and leisure in the whole of Nigeria and Africa”, he further stated.
