A group, Friends of Yahaya Bello has tipped the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello as the next national Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The group conveyed their position in a communique, a copy of which was transmitted to The Rake.
The communique reads:
COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AFTER A HIGH PROFILE MEETING OF FRIENDS OF YAHAYA BELLO
We, the Friends of Yahaya Bello, comprising patriotic Nigerians, political stakeholders, and admirers of progressive leadership, hereby call on the Presidency, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, members of the National Assembly, and the broader political elite of our great nation to rally behind His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, former Governor of Kogi State, for the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Yahaya Bello stands out as a leader whose record in office embodies the ideals of the APC and reflects the progressive values upon which the party was founded. His tenure as Governor of Kogi State was marked by notable achievements.
In the area of security, Yahaya Bello transformed Kogi into one of the safest states in the country, confronting criminality with courage, innovation, and unrelenting resolve. His model has since become a reference point for effective grassroots-driven security strategies.
Under his leadership, Kogi witnessed unprecedented investment in healthcare infrastructure, including the construction of world-class hospitals, primary healthcare centres, and an emphasis on access to quality and affordable healthcare for all.
On infrastures, the Yahaya Bello administration initiated and completed numerous road, housing, and public utility projects that improved connectivity, enhanced commerce, and elevated the standard of living for the people of Kogi State.
On the quest for good governance and youth empowerment, His Excellency distinguished himself by building an administration defined by inclusivity, transparency, and digital innovation. He is known for championing the role of women and youths in governance, setting a new benchmark for leadership that is both forward-thinking and people-focused.
As the APC looks toward the future, it needs a National Chairman who embodies unity, strength, and visionary leadership. Yahaya Bello is the bridge between the old and the new—an energetic leader with the experience, courage, and charisma to steer the APC to greater heights.
We firmly believe that his emergence as National Chairman will rejuvenate the party, deepen internal democracy, and consolidate the gains of the APC across all tiers of government.
We therefore urge all party leaders and faithful across the nation to support Yahaya Bello in this new phase of national service.
He commissioned 50 projects across Kogi which he invited President Buhari
He value women, all the local government vice chairmen were all women during his tenure. These are the reason we call on other progressives to support Yahaya Bello for the position.
