Blancquake Foundation creates awareness, donates blood as the world marks blood day

  • As the world marks Blood Day, Blancquake Foundation in collaboration with the Haematology Department, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH Ituku Ozalla, Wednesday, joined the global celebration of Blood Donor Day by creating awareness and donating blood to indigent patients at the hospital.

The event which started at 9:00 am featured blood talk, blood donation, and a blood rally.

Dr Queen Arinze, Executive Director of Blancquake Foundation explained that as Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, BQF is committed to the welfare of children especially those with neurological conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, and seizure disorders by improving their health status, social status, and prospects as well as motivating them to live an accomplished life.

Dr Arinze added that the “Foundation strives to reduce the rate of stigmatization of these children and also create the awareness necessary for their healthy living”.

The members of the organisation visibly elated, expressed their love for the children telling them that they are loved.
The children also expressed appreciation for the show of love for humanity as exemplified by the organisation even as they prayed for God’s strength and blessing.

Recall the Foundation had during the Children’s Day Celebration of May 27 visited Therapeutic Special School, Enugu with a similar outreach held on Sunday 10th June to celebrate with the children where talks on building and developing trust in God, self-control, respect for oneself and one another, the need to avoid self-abuse, and others, dominated discussion.
