GINMI charges Nwifuru
A non governmental organization, Giving to The Needies Mission Int’l, GINMI has called on Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to immediately prevail on the deplorable condition of Okwata Village in Ndiechi Autonomous Community, Izzi LGA.
Given the huge economic opportunities in the area, GINMI claimed that the road’s poor state has impeded accelerated economic development, necessitating the Governor’s extension of the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda to this near forgotten community.
The Coordinator, Medical Outreaches Department, Giving to The Needies Mission Int’l, Izzi Humanitarian Office, Pharmacist David Nwakpu decried government absence in the area, calling on all political actors to join Governor in developing the state.
Speaking to journalists shortly after their humanitarian mission in the area on Friday, Pharmacist Nwakpu said
“Okwata Village in Ndiechi Autonomous Community is a particular region in Izziland that is forgotten.
“Since the creation of Ebonyi State in 1996, no Governor has remembered Ndiechi community in Izzi LGA.
“Ndiechi autonomous community was formerly under Igbeagu Community, but now an autonomous community.
“Since it was created, no Senator, no political elites, no member of House of Reps has remembered us.
“We don’t have road, we don’t have electricity. Our road linking from Ndiechi village and covering over 20 villages and to Ndubia opposite, Chief John Nwenyi’s compound and also linking to about seven boarder boundaries with some neighbouring villages in Cross River State is in a very deplorable condition”.
The pharmacist claimed that the only time the government remembers the village is during elections.
“Yet, we are only remembered during elections with ballot boxes and after voting , they will disappear.
“We don’t have any road in this community, no electricity and we a population of above five million people”.
He stated that the economic value of the community is undermined by the government.
“In this village, we produce a lot of foods, alot of agricultural produce and its value chains are produced in this community.
“I am calling on the governor through this medium to please remember us.
“The Governor is our brother, he is our son, he is our father, he is our uncle and he is an Izzi man. Let him remember us.
“This particular community has 5 markets and is of great economic importance to the state and the well-being of our people.
“We have Allibaruhu Market that is very big, We have Oferekpe Market which is very big, We have Okwata market which is also a major Market, we have Ochafu, Achacha market and more. These markets are major markets which have palm oils, rice, yams, Cassava tubers and Garri and other Agricultural products.
“Unfortunately, because there is no access roads and Electricity, these agricultural produces waste in this community”.
“The administration of His Excellency, Hon. Ogbonna Nwifuru is our beacon of hope and we urge him to rescue us now before we perish.
