The Ebonyi South senatorial candidate of the Action Alliance, in the 2023 general election, Evangelist Reuben Uche Egwu has been conferred with the United Nations Eminent Ambassador Award.
The event, held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital drew a critical mass of actors and players in the peace and security theatre, members of the academia, political class, captains of industry and the clergymen.
The award conferred during the 13th Induction Ceremony of the Advanced Peace and Reconciliation Council of Nigeria, APRCN, witnessed large turnouts of participants.
Dr Ambassador Morgan Okocha, the Director General of APRCN in his remark at the induction and award ceremony, charged the awardees to stick to the philosophy that informed the award.
“Your remarkable achievements have set you apart as individuals of outstanding merit.
“As you embark on this elevated journey, remember that being a recipient of such esteemed recognition comes with great responsibility.
“Embrace your role as ambassadors with pride, understanding that you are now not only representatives of your accomplishments but also torchbearers of positive change.
“Strive to be exemplary role models, inspiring others through your actions and dedication to making a difference.
“Recognize that the expectations placed upon you are higher, and with your newfound status, the world looks to you for guidance and inspiration.
“May your endeavours continue to uplift humanity, fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation. Your accomplishments are not just personal victories but contributions to the greater good”, Ambassador King David charged the inductees.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the event, Evangelist Egwu, expressed appreciation to APRCN for finding him worthy of the award, assuring continued pursuit of peace, reconciliation and human capital development.
“I dedicate this award to the Almighty God for His grace and mercy to be singled out for this prestigious award.
“Secondly, delighted to see that the little assistance we give in secret is not acknowledged, but publicly recognised by international organisations such as the United Nations.
“What more can I say? I will continue to champion and pursue peace, reconciliation and human capital development. Already, it is not a difficult task to pursue, because as a preacher of the Gospel and follower of Christ, this is what I do”.
Evangelist Reuben Uche Egwu founded the prestigious Dorris Chad Academy, Enohia Itim, Afikpo, Ebonyi State, a platform he uses to support human capital development, especially among the downtrodden.
