As the cloud for the Ebonyi South Senatorial rerun election thickens, there appears to be alignment and horse-trading on who should be elected to represent the zone in line with the populist wish.
Throwing their weight behind the ambition of Evangelist Reuben Uche Egwu recently are clerics who said it is time for God’s anointed to take over the mantle of political leadership of the district.
Leading a delegation of religious leaders on a courtesy call to the Action Alliance Candidate in his office in Abakaliki, Pastor Vitalis Akpa, Pastor Michael Obaji, Apostle Edwin Okpani, Silvanus Olughu, Ezekiel Nwankwo, and Augustine Okoro observed the need for a paradigm shift in governance.
Pastor Akpa Vitalis, the General Overseer of the Mount of Grace Deliverance Ministry who spoke on behalf of the delegation said, “The urgency for God’s elects to occupy strategic political positions is now”.
With the current economic uncertainty, Pastor Vitalis observed “Only God’s elect can greatly turn things around positively because he will receive divine guidance to take decisions that will turn the fortunes of children of God”.
He continued “We are here on behalf of our church members to register our support. You are a member of the body of Christ and we can not choose the opposite. You have made serious kingdom contributions, it is time to make similar contributions to the growth and development of our Senatorial District.
“We know your capacity and we have no doubt you will make us proud as our Senator. Things are hard. So it takes a child of God to receive revelational insight on how to stay afloat in this harsh economic weather. You are that person. Go to the Senate and make laws that will turn things positively around for the people”.
He urged Egwu to sustain the tempo even as he assured of mobilisation of members to support the ambition.
Reacting, Evangelist Egwu assured them of inclusion if elected. He called for the intensification of prayers and supplication from the clerics towards his emergence.
